Brian O’Driscoll is a former Irish rugby international, and the fourth most capped player in the game’s history with 141 test matches. Switching from Gaelic Football to rugby early in his career, O’Driscoll played for the Leinster Senior Cup team in 1996/97, and the Ireland U-19 side in 1998, which won the World Championship.
He made his full debut for Leinster in 1999, assuming the captaincy in 2005, having been handed the Ireland captain’s armband in 2003 and retaining it until 2012. He played at outside centre, being the highest scoring centre of all time, he also holds the Six Nations record for most tries scored with 26. O’Driscoll captained the British & Irish Lions for their New Zealand 2005 tour. He is generally regarded by as one of the greatest rugby players of all time and is something of a hero on his own turf.
O’Driscoll currently works as a rugby pundit for BT Sport and ITV Sport in the UK, and has received honorary doctorates from Dublin City University, Belfast Queens University and Dublin’s Trinity College.
