Norwich City are based in Norwich, Norfolk.  They were founded in 1902 and have played their home games at Carrow Road since 1935.  They have a fierce rivalry with the East Anglian neighbours, Ipswich Town.  They have played Ipswich in the East Anglian derby 134 times since 1902.  Norwich City fans are proud to have the oldest football chant in the world which was written in 1890.  ‘On the Ball, City’ is still sung to this present day.  It is also older than the club itself!

Norwich plays in quite a striking kit of yellow and green with an emblem of a Canary. A signed Norwich City shirt in the canary yellow is a sight to behold! They were nicknamed ‘The Canaries’ due to the history of breeding Canaries in the area.  Canaries were introduced to the area by a group of Europeans in the 16th century known as The Strangers.

The club is famously owned by Delia Smith.  Delia and her husband Michael Wynn-Jones are majority shareholders. Delia Smith is famous for her half-time rallying call in 2005 when she ran onto the pitch and grabbed a microphone.  In an attempt to rally the crowd, she ranted ‘This is a message for possibly the best supporters in the world.  We need a 12th man.  Where are you?  Where are you?  Let’s be having you!  Come on!’

Norwich City has won the League Cup two times, in 1962 and 1985.  They came 3rd in the Premier League in 1992-1993, which is their highest-ever position.  They took part in the UEFA Cup in 1993-1994 and are still the only English side to defeat Bayern Munich in the Olympic Stadium.  They beat Bayern 2-1 with goals from Goss and Bowen.
