Pat Cummins is former Captain of the Australian Cricket Team as well as captain of the Indian side SunRisers Hyderabad. He is known in the game as being one of the best lower order batsmen, and one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time. As Captain of Australia he led the team to victories in the ICC 2015 and 2021 World Cups and the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Cummins started his first grade cricket career with Penrith District Cricket Club in 2011, representing the under 17s and later the under 19s New South Wales sides. The same year he was called up to represent Australia, making his debut against South Africa.
In the 2012 season he played domestically for Sydney Sixers, in 2013/14 Perth Scorchers, 2014/15 and 2021/22 Kolkata Knight Riders, 2014/15-2018/19, Sydney Thunder, in 2017 Delhi Daredevils and in 2024 to now, Sunrisers Hyderabad, all the time maintaining his associated with NSW and the Australian national team, becoming one of Australia’s two test vice-captains in January 2019. He claimed his 100th test wicket during the 2019 Ashes series, making him the fastest Australian player to do so since the second world war!
In late 2021 he took the captaincy of Australia, the 47th player to do so, leading them to victory in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship Final against India. In 2024 he was selected for Australia in the T20 World Cup where his captaincy was transferred to but his captaincy was transferred to Mitchell Marsh.
